Mod Post: Update on Round 3

Thank you to everyone for your comments! Here is what has been decided:

Round 3 is being scrapped. A Round 4 will appear in the new year, same time-line as Round #2 & 3.

If you would like something in return for what you DID write for Round #3, please let me know! Just comment here! Myself and two other artists are willing to contribute a sketch/mix to those of you who are interested in a reward for being awesome!

I'm inviting three people to step up and help out with modly duties. If they accept, this basically means that there will be one person in charge of artists that have signed up, and one or two people in charge of the authors. And between four (five, when Sky-mod is around) of us, we'll HOPEFULLY remember to have things up on time trololol

Thank you again to everyone for all that you have done and putting up with me! An email will go out shortly with the same contents as this message, just to cover the bases for people who haven't checked their flist in awhile.

Your Mod is alive (and horrible)

I am a horrible person. I make no excuses.

I've been putting this off for a long time and finally told myself "stop being a punk and make a post".

So here are the options:

- We continue on the best we can.
- We drop the round

If you guys aren't too angry and upset with me for vanishing off the face of LJ/DW, then we will continue and I will get posts up and going.

If you guys don't want to continue, then that's fine too.

I'll make another post, regardless of the outcome of this one, that will determine the possible fate of this BB. We can try for a round 4 at a much later date (I will also take willing volunteers for another mod) (as a side note, if we do carry on, no black marks will be given for this round because I just pretty much trumped all of your black marks), or we'll just close it down.

A few of you have already turned in drafts to me, or are hanging on to your drafts. I am more than willing to make a mix for each of you for being such troopers and thank you thank you thank you for being wonderful people, all of you, throughout the round despite my previous inability to keep my shit together.

I cannot apologize enough for my general lack of everything. Regardless of how you guys decide, there will be a post in the near future in which you can vote on the future of the Big Bang itself. So please comment here with how you authors feel about carrying on, and if the artists are out there, I'd love to hear from you as well!

Official Drop Out Post!

Finding out that you really can't keep up after all? Never worry! Here is your official drop out post. All you have to do is comment here saying that you'd like to drop out. You won't get a mark on your name for future rounds.

This post works for authors and artists alike. If you have signed up via LJ but are commenting here, please let me know what your LJ name is so I can find you and mark you off properly.

Check-In #2 + Update!

I finally have a day off where the only thing I have to do is chores. So after starting laundry and before I unpack from my trip (even though I got back a week ago whoops) I shall bring you your update post!

As you have undoubtedly noticed, I am running quite behind schedule. Because of that, I am pushing the rough-draft deadline back until July 15th. That does mean the rest of the calendar will be skewed because of it. That's okay, though, I hope! Here is the new schedule:

Rough Drafts Due: July 15
Story Claims Open: July 24
Final Stories/Art Due: August 25
Posting Starts: September 1

Of course you are more than welcome to turn in your rough draft any time between now and July 15th.

Now, we are commencing with your second check-in post! Please comment here if you are still in for the running (Artists are more than welcome and encouraged to pop their head in, but it isn't mandatory).

Keep in mind that authors who do not comment on this post (or email the mods) will be marked as having dropped. If you did not reply to the first check-in and you still do not reply to this one (marked with *), you will be dropped and given a black mark for future rounds.

The following is a list of authors (On DW) who still need to check in. If you don't see yourself on this list, it means that A) you have already dropped out or B) you are on the LJ list. If you signed up on LJ but are commenting on here, please let me know what your LJ username is so I can mark you off that list.

Author Sign-Ups CLOSED + Check-in!

Fweee I was sitting around wondering what to do as my nails finished drying when I remembered that I was supposed to make a mod post a few days ago! So here it is! As of this point, the author sign-ups are closed! We have 22 people signed up and wading through this challenge.

We also currently have 10 artists signed up, which is a pretty excellent number. If you would like to sign up (and you still have plenty of time), please head on over here and then enroll on the googledoc!

Along with the message of closing the author sign-ups, I figured it was as good a time as any to do a check-in. ~~(sorry, you can't have a poll on here.)~~

Please leave a comment below to participate in the check-in! Just say "I'M HERE!" or even "I can't make it any more". There will be an official drop-out post later, but if you've been biting your nails over it for a long time you can comment here with a withdrawal.

I'm giving you all a week before we send out emails to see who is still in or not :) Hope that you're all writing away as much as you are able (I am not very able but I am doing my best--!). Please feel free to comment here or send us an email if you have any questions or concerns. It has been very quite, so I am going to take that as you are all writing hard ~~or hardly writing?~~. Update on things!

Hello there everyone! I thought that, what with it being two weeks (and then some) since sign-ups began, it would be a good time to do a little modly post to see how you're all doing (No, this is not one of the check ins, don't worry). Here's what we've got going on so far:

+ 16 authors signed up between here and LJ! (17 if you include the two that are crazy enough to write a story together ON TOP of their own individual ones)
+ 4 artists signed up

We can use some more artists. As it is, in order to get everyone covered, each artist would have to take 4 pieces! And that's no fun. So spread the word and spread the links to all your artistically inclined friends! Author sign ups are here and open until April 15th, and artist sign ups are here and open until May 31st.

Are you guys chugging along with your stories? With your plots? I know I haven't even started mine yet but I do know what I'm doing. Any other projects taking up your time? (at the other Big Bang I'm participating in, there is someone who is doing TWELVE! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?)

Between April 15 and June 15 there will be mandatory check ins.

This round is being run simultaneously on our LJ mirror. You may sign up via the link on either one, and we will be cross-posting everything between the two. However, whichever you mark on the sign-up will just be wherever you end up posting the final product. Authors from LJ can have their fics claimed by someone on DW and vice versa.

{Round Three} Announcement!

Hello there everyone who still manages to follow this lonely little community.

As you may or may not know, fantasybigbang has been taking off quite more than it's mirror has. Here is what you might have missed!

1) Round One came and went
2) A co-mod was hired (Me!)
3) Fanfiction is no longer accepted
4) Round Two came and went

Well, that's about it. But on the anniversary of the first round of fantasybigbang and it's LJ counterpart, we have decided to go ahead and kick-start round three. It is I who suggested reviving the DW mirror because now I actually have a DW and I've seen that it is quite popular amongst other fic fests and big bangs. And now that there are two of us, we'll do a better job of keeping this updated (see, look, already we are being productive!)

And yes, you did read that right: we are no longer accepting fanfiction. After juggling round one with quite a few fanfic submissions that received no artists, we decided it would be easier to just not allow any.

Now, on to the fun stuff:
Round 3 will open in the middle of February, just the same as Round 2 and Round 1. In fact, we're going to keep most of the dates exactly the same for the whole of Round 3, just to make it easier on our continued participants and on the mods. That means that the schedule will look like this:

Author Sign Ups Open: Feb. 15
Artist Sign Ups Open: Feb. 15
Author Sign Ups Close: April 15
Artist Sign Ups Close: May 31
Rough Drafts Due: June 15
Story Claims Open: June 24
Final Stories/Art Due: July 25
Posting Starts: Aug. 1
As always, there will be mandatory check-ins between the sign ups and posting dates.

The mods thought that Round 2 went pretty well, so not a whole lot will change from that round to this. The FAQ is up if you have any concerns or questions, but as always feel free to email us (fantasybigbangmods @ gmail.com) or PM either of the mods if something is still unclear or unanswered.

Keep an eye out for the Author and Artist sign ups!

Rough Draft deadline FAST approaching!

Wow! September sure went by fast! I hope all you authors are settled into your stories and chugging merrily along with them.

Tomorrow is the rough draft deadline, and artist claims will open shortly after that.

Since our the number of artists and mixers who have signed up is worryingly small, I'm going to keep those sign ups open until right before posting starts in the hopes that we'll have more of them sign up. I encourage you all to talk to your friends and encourage them to sign up. I really would like this first round to be a success, but we'll definitely need more artists to make that happen!

Ok, onto how tomorrow works:

Copy the text in the box below and copy it into an email. Fill it out and send it to Sky at cerulean.sky @ gmail .com. In addition to the text, please attach your rough draft to the email. Please make sure to do this by 11:59pm Pacific Standard Time. If you need to figure out how your time zone works with that, it's google-able.

If you need an extension, I am more than willing to talk to you about it, but please be aware that I probably won't be able to give you an extension of more than a week without throwing the whole schedule off.

Artist Sign Ups - Round 1

Please comment here to sign up as an artist and/or mixer for the fantasybigbang. Use the following form to sign up:

- You can sign up as an artist and mixer, or you can choose just one or the other.

- Art can be a vid, original illustration, manip, or cover art. You must create at least one piece for your claimed story. Art may be explicit, however we do recommend that you okay that with your author first.

- Mixes must be at least 5 songs.

- Claims will open October 5th.

- A final draft of your art and/or mix will be due by November 1st.

- Posting will begin by assignment November 5th.
